As a result, it may require a significant amount of concentration and patience to fully grasp the interconnected stories and lore within the Silmarillion. However, for readers who are willing to invest the time and effort, the Silmarillion can be a rewarding and immersive experience. **

The Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings are both highly regarded works by J.R.R. Tolkien, but they are quite different in style and content. The Silmarillion is more of a collection of myths and legends that provide background and context for the world of Middle-earth, while The Lord of the Rings is a more traditional narrative with a central plot and characters. Some readers may prefer the epic scope and depth of The Silmarillion, while others may find The Lord of the Rings more engaging due to its focus on characters and storytelling. Ultimately, the question of which is "better" comes down to personal preference and what aspects of Tolkien's writing resonate most with the individual reader. **

The Silmarillion sets the stage for the events that take place in The Fall of Gondolin and provides important context for the story. Reading The Silmarillion first will enhance your appreciation and understanding of The Fall of Gondolin. **
